TME goes to NYC


According to Forbes, about 30% of businesses in the U.S. are owned by women, but here’s something you may not know about  them—only 2% break $1 million in revenue.  This year, The Mom Economy (TME) wants to change that. 

TME, a nonprofit that runs work-development programs for a new generation of entrepreneurs, is hosting its second annual retail competition – this year in New York City thanks to returning partner, Shopify.  


The Mom Economy x Shopify Mother’s Mercado 2019 

Where: SHOWFIELDS, 11 Bond St. at the corner of Lafayette St. in Soho, NYC, 10012 

When: Saturday, May 4th from 10 am to 5 pm

Within SHOWFIELDS, Shopify will host rising merchants in their space 'Aha by Shopify' who represent some of the fastest growing online categories, including home design, fashion and wellness. Each has built a compelling, fresh and successful brand online. These Shopify merchants include:  Aelfie, Baby Tress, Best Self Co, Coco and Breezy, Hudson Wilder, Meso Goods and Wild One.



Submit your business for TME x Shopify Mother's Mercado 2019

Your business must meet the following requirements before submitting your application:

+ The business is mother-owned (minimum 50%)
+ The business is USA founded + operated in at the time of application. Unfortunately, International business entries are not accepted at this time. 
+ The applicant is at least 21 Years Old + at the time of application.
+ Must not have a retail lease or space of your own. 
+ Your revenue can not exceed $1 Million 
+ Must be available to physically attend Mother's Mercado during May 3rd - 4th at SHOWFIELDS in New York City.
+ Each merchant is responsible for their own accommodations such as flight, room and board. 
+ If selected as a finalist, 20% of the business' net sales on May 4th will go to The Mom Economy (501c3).
