What is the Mother’s Mercado?
The Mother’s Mercado is a pop-up marketplace. our goal is to give mother-owned businesses the opportunity to experience a retail experience, while inspiring the community and encouraging the Shop Small movement. 20% of all the sales goes to the Mother Fund our parental leave grant for female owned businesses.
Where do Mompreneurs apply?
We will only accept online applications directly through our website: themomeconomy.com. All emails, messages or mail submission will not be considered as an application.
Are you only accepting applications from Mothers?
Yes, applications need to be from businesses that have a mother founder or co-founder, a mother CEO and/or mother ownership (>50%). We realize that this limits our pool of applicants but we feel this is an important part of our program and long-term initiative for assisting mothers in business.
What is The Mom Economy?
TME is the platform for working moms to thrive. A non-for-profit organization for mothers who work, entrepreneurs, business owners, and corporate employees all coming together for a common purpose—workforce development for mothers.What’s in it for the mother-owned businesses?
The benefits are that the selected merchants will have the opportunity to sell their product during our two-day Mother’s Mercado event in Miami on Saturday, December 11th and Sunday, December 12th, 2021. Once selected as Merchant, we will send all details for the load-in and set-up for the event.
What types of products are eligible/not eligible at Mother’s Mercado?
To this point, we’ve purposely left our criteria broad to encourage the very best to apply. We are looking for uniqueness and – diverse range of products.
What will selected merchants be responsible for?
Merchants are responsible for all materials to make their booth a success, such as decor, product displays, and product.
Is there a cost to applying?
All Applicants, regardless of selection are required to make a $50 donation to The Mom Economy. Submitting payment for an application does not constitute acceptance of your company as a Merchant.
- To complete the application process, Applicant must agree to pay the $50 application fee via credit card or PayPal.
- Your application donation helps cover the production costs associated with the Mother’s Mercado.
What dates must Mompreneur Merchants be available for participation?
Must attend the full-day set-up and overnight load-in on Friday, December 10th for participation at the Mother’s Mercado on Saturday, December 11th and Sunday, December 12th, 2021.
Can a Mom Merchant sell food or a service?
No.
We will accept applications from Merchants with:
Vintage or Antique collectables
High Quality Craft and handmade items
Up-cycled or restored salvage
Original art
Must have a tangible product or good available on hand to sell
We do not accept vendors with:
Direct sales & multi level marketing (Mary Kay, LulaRoe, It Works, LipSense, Scentsy, etc).
Wholesale distributors
National franchises
No alcohol, beverage (water or soda) sales.
Services that do not have a product or good associated with them.
